    Prompt #1247, “…domestic violence…”

    She lay there dying.
    He stood over her, sneering.
    “Run your mouth now,bitch.”

Don’t let yourself be loved to death. This prompt slugged me hard, right in the gut… no way could I ignore it.

Interesting that yesterday I heard an interview on NPR about the #whyIstayed hash tag. So much pain. So glad to see women sharing the realities of DV in public so that people can begin to understand. It’s an important message for this time of year. We have to stop sweeping this problem under the rug if we ever hope to save our children. Thanks for using the prompt, Joyce.

        You’re welcome.

The response hit so fast, as this topic is one that really speaks to me. I tell other women like it really is: He won’t get better, he will get worse. Get to the nearest shelter and stay there. Don’t stay in the abuse. Sad when they won’t listen.

I look at each prompt you post, and think it’s strange how some of them will prompt a haiku without my permission, lol. It just happens. Heck,I’m turning into a haiku…everything I see and do has potential now, whereas I never would have paid attention to much of anything before I started this. Even taking out the garbage, sigh.
